Canvas LMS

Distance Learning

Canvas LMS has been a cornerstone of my work as both an educator and an instructional designer. From teaching Digital Learning to K–12 students to training college students to become skilled helpdesk technicians, I have used Canvas to create structured, engaging, and accessible learning experiences.

One of my key projects is the development and ongoing maintenance of our Canvas-based onboarding course for student helpdesk technicians. This course provides essential training in technology support, customer service, and troubleshooting, and it evolves alongside our department’s needs. Recently, I designed and launched a new module focused on decision-making—a scenario-based learning activity that helps technicians practice critical thinking in realistic support situations. You can explore a sample of this course and see the decision-making module in action by referring to the "Decision Making Course Sample" link. More about this project is available on my blog.

In addition to course development, I have created tutorials and resources within Canvas to teach both educators and students how to take full advantage of the platform’s features. Some examples of my Canvas work and tutorials are linked here, and additional how-to videos are available on my YouTube channel, EdTech N' Ian.
