SAM Labs Projects
Tomorrow's engineers
SAM Labs is a powerful software platform that allows students to explore how algorithms are constructed and applied to create innovative technologies and devices. By providing a visual, block-based programming interface, it helps learners understand the connection between inputs, processes, and outputs in an engaging and accessible way.
In my classes, I have used SAM Labs to design hands-on challenges that encourage students to think critically about how to develop autonomous devices. Using light sensors, LEDs, and DC motors, students have engineered solutions to real-world problems while building a solid foundation in computational thinking.
Some of the most notable student projects include an autonomous night light that plays music and illuminates when the room goes dark, and a self-driving model car programmed to navigate its environment. These activities not only strengthen technical skills but also spark creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Explore the tutorials and demonstrations for a step-by-step look at how these projects work and the technology behind them.
